Born in 1960 I grew up in Glasgow, in the South West of Scotland. I left home at a young age and headed off into the world to earn my fortune, now some significant time later I'm still optimistic, that one day, that might actually happen.

I studied drawing and painting at Art School in Aberdeen in the 1980's, then, after my degree, went on to a further year of study in Edinburgh for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

I became very interested in photography as an art medium at the time digital began to break through and, after being hugely impressed with my friend's Sony Mavica, which, at that time, used 3.5in floppy discs for memory, I bought a little Olympus 860L and started shooting anything and everything.

Nowadays. having tried out many D-SLR's and compacts from various manufacturers, my favourite camera is actually still a compact, the superb Ricoh GX100 which allows me to compose in the square format I like at the time of taking the image, with, usually, no need to crop later.

My previous photography has involved model shoots, product shots and conceptual work, but I've recently discovered the sheer pleasure of getting out into the landscape and just quietly witnessing the world around me.
